Are the tiles on the side of a velux supposed to stick up abit?

My builder has fitted a velux pivot window 1400 x 780. My roof tiles on either sides are lifted up abit. It looks abit strange. I think the tiles supposed to be flat like the rest of the roof tiles. My builder said the tiles are lifted abit to make the water flow away from the velux. Is this normal or do I need him to make some adjustment? Thank you.

it sounds like the wrong flashing kit for the tile has been used.

Hi,This is normal as all flashing kits for skylights have a foam surround raised up,This prevents pests getting under flashings and also protects the flashings, don't worry as there is a storm edge lip to prevent water ingress, hope this helps You,mike
