Convert downstairs wc to utility room

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.52 PM

My current property has a washing machine in the kitchen but i am unable to accomodate a dishwasher in there too without doing significant work (ie, blocking off back door to extend kitchen unit spaces). We are desperate to install a dishwasher so a possible solution may be to place dishwasher in space where washing machine is in kitchen and then reposition washing machine to downstairs wc. Plumber has checked the space and from a plumbing pov - all seems feasible. However, from an electrician perspective, what needs to happen to get power for washing machine into downstairs loo? Would an additional ring main need to be created to accomodate the washing machine circuit in the wc? If so, what would this involve?

Shouldn't be too much hassle it needs to be wired off of the local circuit. Just make sure an electrician does it as he would know how to do it etc.

Hi mr 81, if you have a ring circuit near by you can take one 2.5mm twin and earth cable to a double socket, but its best to get a part p electrician you do this and you would get a minor works cert, hope this helps Michael hills-electrical
