Hi, I've got slight damp smell in the front bedroom, particularly in the fitted wardrobe that is fitted against the chimney breast. I've had the roof tiles replaced properly, however still having the musky smell. I've since found out that the cowls have no cover, basically letting the rain in. I've had various quotes averaging £350. I asked one particular roofer what he would do. His response, point up the blue bricks, remove cowls and slate over the cement bead. My concern is, will that cause further issues, ie not allowing air into the chimney? The cement bed is white, not sure if that alone is allowing water ingress or if it was white cement. The house is a 3 bed end terraced, ex council house. Chimney is just for my house. Thank you
