Large Crack In Wall

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.51 PM

We have come across a large crack in the wall where we could hear the plaster around it was loose. We have excavated around the crack in order to then fill and paint over without it cracking again. What it has created is a large crack where there is air felt from outside. The exterior of the property is tiled with roof tiles so we can't assess the crack from outside. We would like to know whether we can fill this or whether it could be an unsafe crack that we need to get professional help on? Many Thanks

Hi, Sorry to hear about your rather "inconvenient crack in the wall". Points that need to be determined for diagnosis, symptoms, repair, prevention of reoccurence: 1. Age of property - Cavity wall, foundations, plaster finish etc... 2. Has the crack recently appeared, getting worse? 3, Where and what room is the crack present and how it presents itself on the wall. [Cavity walls may produce a draft through openings/cracks into interior space.] if you could provide a little more info as above, I could offer you further advice. Cheers...
