Flat roof window - Need one as flush to roof as possible!
Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.51 PM
Hi,
Putting a flat roof window in above the stairwell to loft extension.
To stay within permitted development, the top of the roof window can't reach higher than the ridge of the roof. But the new flat roof dormer is practically in line with the ridge, and the roof windows I've looked at stand quite tall above the flat roof they're fitted in. Anyone know of any particularly slim ones that are almost flush with finished roof?
Cheers!
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
For a rooflight to a flat roof you will always need an upstand of 150mm min. from the surface of the flat roof to the window in order to provide sufficient weatherproofing. This allows for a build up of snow or pooling water on the roof in extreme conditions.
I would be wary of any rooflight that sits much lower than this. This supplier has a good range, but they will have an upstand.

Hope this helps.

Hi steve,Have you tried flushglaze?
They have a good range of shapes and sizes and can fabricate windows to your specifications however as already mentioned above you will need a minimum upstand of 150mm.
