Downlights in Kitchen

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 3.29 PM

I just had my ceiling re-plastered and want to get downlights fitted. I have been advised because several holes need to be cut, the whole ceiling would have to be reskimmed which i'm not keen on. What would be the best solution? Can the cut holes be patched up? Can i just get bigger downlights so that i dont need more holes cut in the ceiling to put several small ones?

There are occasionally cases where to fit downlights in a ceiling, additional holes are created than required for the lights, so that cables can be run to each light, this can usually be patched, however, if there is an accessible ceiling void (either through a loft access or by lifting floor boards in a room above) then no additional holes would be required and no re-skim would be required. As an alternative, quicker option, we are able to surface mount the cables onto the existing ceiling and install a stretch fabric ceiling circa. 16mm below the current ceiling. The is a also a cleaner option.
