sockets fit in furniture

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.10 PM

Hi, I have a question regarding sockets fit into a side panel of furniture, how much space is required to feed the wires between the carcass/ side panels of 2 units? I have looked at some diagrams and the double socket depth seems to be 30mm including the face. Can the socket be fit on the unit and then the other unit could be butted up to it or would that cause problems? We only have 5mm of space currently so I am wandering if I would need to add a filler inbetween to space the cabinets appart?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, You would need to use a metal double back box that is 35mm deep, with also maybe a little but of space at the back to run the cable to it. Thanks

I might be reading this wrong but it sounds as if your happy to have them surface mounted, which is OK and yes you can have two butted together. Hope this helps.
