Electrical system check
Hello,
Can I please be advised of how often needs the electrical system check and certificate to be carried out by legal requirements? How long takes such service?
Thank you in advance for any answer.
Best regards

Hi, there is no time frame by law for the frequency of an EICR (electrical installation condition report) within a domestic dwelling. How ever there are circumstances that legally require the system to be tested and a certificate issued such as the consumer unit (fuse board) being changed and the installation of additional circuits. Once an EICR is issued it is valid for 10 years and though you do not legally have to renew it every 10 years you maybe required to obtain one for insurance purposes, change of use, client/customer request and/or peace of mind. I hope this answers your question. Anthony
