Electric vs. water pipe based under floor heating

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.10 PM

I am confused between electric vs. water pipe based under floor heating for the kitchen. The kitchen is about 42 sqm in area and is being refurbished and extended. I am biased towards electric given that I have been told it is cheaper (water based is about 3x electric install cost). However as I have no clue about the benefits of either I wanted to get some help.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

How long do you plan to live in this property? 'Wet' underfloor heating will be cheaper to run but you're right electric is cheaper to install.

Electric in my opinion is the way to go. The installation costs are far cheaper. Main benefits of the electric system are the guarantees you get. Warmup offer a lifetime.... The system is controlled by a thermostat that is hugely versatile. If you were to purchase a Warmup 4ie through Topps Tiles for instance, that too is covered with a lifetime guarantee. With the electric system, there plain and simply aren't any maintenance costs. Also it's a totally silent system. Electric will also provide a better quality of air in the room due to the style of heating it uses. Hope this helps.
