Extensions

kitchen extention

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.15 PM

Hi, I've heard rumours that when doing a kitchen extention the kitchen needs to be at the end of the extention and cannot be located in its current room. I have tried research on laws and regulations but have not been successful. Could you kindly advice?

Hi, There is no particular building regulation which states where the kitchen has to be located in a property. However any new kitchens must have sufficient mechanical extraction. Mechanical extraction rate is measured in litres per second (l/s). Kitchen - 30l/s if extraction is placed over the hob. Kitchen - 60l/s if extraction is place elsewhere in the kitchen. Utility rooms - 30l/s Hope this helps.
