Damp Proofing New Single Skin Porch

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 3.28 PM

Hello, we are about to build a porch on our 1940's mid terrace. There is 6inch thick concrete slab in place to form the footing and the original concrete roof to form the new soffit (roof will be pitched above). Original front door is also staying. Our plan is to build the required walls in 140mm concrete block(we need to render externally) as we don't have the depth for a cavity. If the walls are built with a dpc at the usual height and the floor slab liquid dpm'd would this provide enough damp protection once the outside is rendered?. I plan to then metal wall liner and board/plaster the inside and install a small humistat extractor also. would this be sufficient do you guys think?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

if the external brickwork has a dpc then you'll be fine regarding any damp issues. as for the plastering work use metal stud work and insulation board and skim. make sure you add a radiator in the room if you can't underfloor heating would be best. the reason being it will still get cold during the winter with no heat source
