Decking needs refitting - though not sure what foundation is like
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 2.49 PM
I want to re-deck my garden. I currently have decking alongside my kitchen (approx 1.5m width x 4m length) and then round a corner (approx 1.5m x 1.5m). The previous decking was fitted by an amateur and is not fitted properly, gets really slippery when it's wet and some of the beams are rotten. I would like to use a composite decking, but have heard these can be really expensive. Can someone help me with the best decking to buy.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Wooden decking areas are notorious for becoming slippery when wet, or when covered with algae. Dino Grip Anti-Slip Decking Strips are a quick and easy way to improve safety on wood deck flooring - they create an instant Non-Slip surface, right over the top of your existing decking! Dino Grip Anti-Slip Decking Strips are a prefabricated retrofitting solution, designed to tackle the problem of slippery surfaces. Our Anti-Slip Decking Strips are manufactured from FRP (Fibre Reinforced Plastic)/ GRP (Glass-fibre Reinforced Plastic) to provide an extremely tough and durable safety flooring solution. These products have been used successfully in the most testing environments.
Hope that help

Just your standard decking timber from your local timber merchants would do the trick . try lining the ground where your new decking is with damp proof coursing , damp proof membrane and treat the timbers what will be the footings .

Hello there.
Composite decking from Trex cost approx £11 per 1m length. Even considering that Trex is the most developed composite decking theres plenty of other suppliers like edecks.co.uk, wpc-decking.co.uk.
In a battle between composite and wood deckings is that composite doesn't rot, stain, fade and in most cases you have 25 years guarantee on the product. When wood ones, regardless what type of wood you choose you have to wash and oil every year.
In my opinion composite wins. As long as your frame is done well with plenty of noggins to support joist then the decking will last for years to come.
