Long 6" Main Sewer Pipe Iron Cast inside the flat

Anonymous user 15 March 2024 - 2.34 PM

I've purchased a complete run-down basement flat in central London. At the end of the flat, a long 6 inch main sewer pipe (Iron Cast) crosses from one side wall to the other side (length 2 to 3m) There are 4 or 5 flats above the basement. =============== Addition:- The flat has never been habitable and is the basement flat. It is bare canvas and the pipe. The borough is in Westminster Council. Victorian style block but was owned by the council. Is there anything to be concerned about this pipe. I don`t have any further information besides the pictures provided unfortunately.

is it 6 inch lcc or timesaver, lcc has leaded joints timesaver has bolted collars .which borough are you in,some boroughs are more demanding about what you can do,like westminster/and kensington and chelsea if you decide to alter pipework it will most likely have to be in timesaver, you will need permission from head lease holder, local council, and need to notify all the other flats, which means it will need to be done at a time that suits everyone and as fast as possible over wise their flats are not livable ,your best bet cost wise is to box it in.looking at your map i would think it is in ken and chelsea, but you should contact local authority to see what other properties it might serve and what they will let you do with it .once you know what you can do with it you will be able to get a price to do it.
