Is it worth having a boiler filter fitted
Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.09 PM
Hi
Our 6 year old vaillant boiler was making quite a lot of noise recently, as were the water pipes when the heating was on.
My brother was visiting at the time and decided to drain the boiler and put some sort of chemical cleaner in the system and then flushed it out.
The boiler is a lot more quieter now. The water from the radiators is also quite clear but I do hear occasional noise from the pipes and the boiler when it's in use.
Would it be wise or economical to have a magnetic filter fitted to a 6 year old boiler?
Unfortunately my brother is no longer here to advise, but from what he has told me, no pipes would need moving as there is plenty of space.
Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated
Thanks, Abigail.

Hi, Yes always recommend the filter to any boiler. It helps with the prevention of sludge and debris entering into the boiler from the system.
Get the Magna clean filter fitted, it should cost 150.00 fitted..
Yes definitely. The filter will help protect and prolong the life of your boiler, and prevent the build up of sludge within the system. Always use a professional to work on your boiler and central heating.
Id agree with aj barnes fitting a filter after a good flush out would be a good idea, it will help maintain the life of your boiler components and in the long run end up costing you alot less, again i do like the magnaclean fitted alot over the years and a good bit of kit
Agree 100% with the other answers. A magnetic sludge filter is essential for protecting and prolonging the life of a boiler, even on one that's 6 years old. Most boiler manufacturers won't even honour the warranty if one isn't fitted.
