Boomerang Plasterer

Hiya, brand new to the building work side of things so very naive at first. Got recommended a plasterer to skim a knock through, both rooms and hall stairs and landing. Took a few days and a lot of mess for the job to get done and being honest I fed and watered the boys very well over the days. When it was all done I was expecting them to come back and inspect the work when it has dried but they didn't. I called them back to advise me as there were a few gouges, skrim tape on show in places, and all around plugs they hadn't filled where they'd been chased through. We pointed out where a fireplace was filled that the plaster hadn't been brought down to skirting board level. They were fine with everything, apologetic for the most part and did most of the work on an arranged date. There's a few issues still outstanding that I need advice on: 1. Should underneath plugs at floor level be grainy and white rather than plastered? 2. Will skrim tape really paint over if it's only slightly showing? 3. They haven't come and finished the chimney breast yet and I've contacted them asking them to ring me, my partner texted them a couple of days later, he rung them today but no answer and I've now emailed. I feel like they are taking the p*ss out of us here - would you as a plasterer always arrange to come back and check everything when you know the plaster is dry? Cheers and sorry for the long post!!

Hi, As a plasterer myself of 15 years ive never gone back once its dried simply because im competent to know ive done it right first time round. As for the scrim showing, yes on occasions it can be seen but usually its filled/plastered flush and once painted will never be seen again. As for the plug sockets being low level it really depends on how low they are, sometimes its impossible to get a trowel in awkward areas and makeva nice finish - but id personally take it off or loosen it up and attempt to make an effort. If the guys has come back and rectified some of his work with no fuss then he sounds geuine. Hope this helps
