Electrical

New boiler installation

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.08 PM

Hi, I've got a plumber coming to fit a new boiler (not combi, just the old style) in the same place as the old one was and said we need an electrician for part of the job (something about putting in an overflow potentially, I'm rubbish at these things!) and have a friend who can do electrical work who is registered although is not part p registered. Would that be a problem? Xx

If you don't actually know what he needs the electrician for very hard to say tbh.

Hi there, it sounds like the plumber may want an electrician to wire in the heating and hot water controls to the boiler if these are on an external timer and not on the boiler itself. If you are keeping the controls and using the existing circuit to supply the boiler then this work is not notifiable under part P so your electrician friend will be fine doing this work. Just clarify with your plumber exactly what it is he needs doing first. Best of luck, Rob
