Damp Proofing Question

Ongoing damp problem

We have damp in our front bedroom, coming from two corners of the room above the windows. We also have damp in the walls in the back bedrooms. There has been some in the downstairs bathroom - and it seems that the house has a lot of condensation which is adding to the issue. I think new windows might be needed throughout the property - but that partly solves the issue - what needs to be done to fix this issue completely?

If you do have new windows make sure you have trickle vents installed with them, new double glazed windows will be great and warm but your home will need to breathe or the condensation problem with get worse. I suggest getting envirovent to come and look and see what they suggest, there units are designed to suck in fresh air and circulate around your home and eliminate condensation issues. I am talking from experience as I have their system installed and have not seen any condensation issues since.

without looking at the issue its impossible to say exactly what is causing your issues, it could be a combination of a few different things,
your best bet is post your job on the site and get a local expert round to asses the cause/best course of action.

good luck alex

Hi i think new damp proof course can help , rerender walls but ts gonna work when you strip the walls to brick leave them to dry and then do this. In most cases thats the cheapest to do and can solve the damp issue.

The majority of your issues are going to be condensation related. Look at installing a piv system.
Get a survey from a local damp and timber company. They generally carry out surveys for free and could probably fit a unit fairly cheaply.

Somebody may have blocked the air events that in every house if you've lived in the house all your life maybe dad is not a problem but if you've moved then maybe the last owners has blocked all the vents to keep it warm in the winter so check the vents and see our day clear
