Heating won't go off

Anonymous user 15 March 2024 - 2.34 PM

My heating won't go off, batteries needed to be replaced in thermostat, done that but heating is still on constantly, I can only turn it off by using the trip switch. I've tried leaving batteries out and completely resetting thermostat, but not working. I can't see a brand name on thermostat, but it is only 4 years old. (Last year the water timer went and had to be replaced, and had some leaks, so soldering and pipes replaced in hot water system) . Any ideas what to try next? Its a wall mounted thermostat, not wireless. Is the expiry date an install date or a replace date? As the expiry date is a year after it was installed. Its a myson thermostat

you need somebody to take a look at it.... unfortunately for you it's falls into a bit of a grey area when it comes to what trade to ask. Most plumbers/gas engineers say it's the electricians job and vice Versa. Post the job on this site and see if you catch any fish

The problem may actually lie with a seized motorised valve and/or actuator head. You should get a qualified person to rectify this for you. A competent heating engineer would be trained to identify electrical faults and also work on the "Wet" side of the system. So no plumber or electrician required, they are different trades.
