How safe is an electrical socket directly behind my undercounter freezer?

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 3.25 PM

Expert advice needed! I have just bought an undercounter freezer as extra storage and the spot I chose for it seemed perfect at the time until I went to install it. There are 4 sockets behind the freezer which are in use. I have put socket plugs in 2 and want to use the far left one for the freezer and inserted an extension cord on the 4th one to the far right for my other electrics (phone, modem and printer). I am a little worried about the safety even if I allow some good distance. I would appreciate any advice to put my mind at ease before I plug it in tomorrow. :/

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Any appliances covering socket outlets will require an alternate isolation point , ideally via a switched spur . This is bearing in mjnd its pushed back and installed into the kitchen units . If its free standing this is not an issue .
