Sliding patio doors problems

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.06 PM

Hi, I had new sliding patio doors installed two weeks ago and I hoped someone could answer a few questions for me about potential issues. 1. There is air getting in down the middle strip of the doors - seems like a seal isn't being created when the doors are closed. Should this be an easy fix? 2. When closing the door, it bounces back slightly and the latch is very stiff. Is that normal for a new unit? Should it really bounce? 3. There are brown marks on some areas of the uPVC around the perimeter of the glass. What would cause this? Is it anything to worry about? They clean off but I didn't expect it from a new unit. 4. Pins have been used in the frame to tack it against the wall. They are white so as to blend in with the surround but are still noticeable. Should these have been used? Any advice would be appreciated as I'm not sure what's normal or not and how I should raise things with the installer! Thanks in advance. Edit: Thanks for the response but it wasn't a company that installed it, just a local tradesman.

How should you raise it with the installer? A phone call to say you are not happy with a few things and would someone please attend. If they ignore you or don't come, write them a letter and send it registered delivery. Your edit... local tradesman? same thing applies although I doubt if you were offered any sort of a warranty? If he was anything resembling a professional he would come and listen & rectify any faults surely especially if you have paid him which is assuming you have. Anyway good luck.

I'm both baffled and concerned with this the air coming in in my opinion is the doors not lining up properly they should sort of fit into each (different styles do different)making air tight The Mark's on glass/frame sound like off a mallet putting beads on. The bouncing back could be few things 1- glass not packed of lock 2-frame itself not packed 3-door not lined up properly 4-door needs lifting on wheels Most baffling part is were you say held on by pins I cant see why this obviously but more to point cant think why either I think you need get everything checked if you could send pics I could possibly help more
