How do you tell if a penetrating damp issue is reolved?

Hello, I have had quite a lot of work done on my house to fix a penantrating damp issue. However I am unsure as to whether this issue has been fixed or not. The dark marks that were appearing previously still appear but not as bad and also during all weathers now(not just rain). Is there a way to test/see if this is still a penetrating damp issue or if this is the wall needing to dry out or condensation? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Andrew.
