How are measurements taken when building an extension with approved plan. Is the measurements taken from external wall (foundation) to reflect the plan size or is taken from internal wall to wall .

Builders and designers always use external measurements when setting out and pricing the building costs for the works. This is industry standard.

usually all measurements on bricklayers drawings for house extensions are taken from the outside face of the outside skin of brickwork on the house to the same on the extension
