Painting & Decorating Question

Front door repainting

My front door is white and I believe plastic/pvc of some sort. It seems to be peeling and as it is plastic I am not sure how to sort this out? It may have been painted in the past by previous owners but I can't really tell.

In addition to this job we need the wooden doorstep sanded and repainted/varnished.

Thanks!
Becca

Hello becca
Sounds like it probably has been painted but not prepared correctly..you need to strip off all the old paint and then apply a special PVC primer before repainting..try a small area with polystripper as a test first.. make sure you wear gloves and goggles ..use the water soluble type and wash off immediatley
NB. do the test on the door edge
Hope this helps

No you dont need new door, ok, wash door give it a light rub down with 240 grit sand paper, then go to your local good decorating supplier and ask them for BEDEC multi surface paint, you dont need primer or undercoat, this paint will do you a very good job and cost you less than half the price of a new door. You can get it in white, black or have it tinted to what ever you wish.
For you step i recomend Sadolin superdec, again rub down with a 120 grit sand paper, then give it a primer/undercoat coat, then 2 coats of superdec, and do rub lightly in between coats.
you will probaly be left with some change dear, no need for new door.
