Screed over ply

I have two rooms that have been knocked into one, now there is a difference in floor level by 18mm, so my question is on the lower part of the floor can i lay an 18mm ply down first then have the whole area screeded at like 2mm?

regards

yes, you can build up with an 18mm ply but be sure to fix the ply down securely first. screws not nails and fixed between 4" and 6" apart.

also to note, insure the screed you use is one that can be used on wood as a normal screed would break up
products like Stopgap 700 or ARDEX FA 20 for example
