How do i fix an electical plug socket?

Who would I need/how would I go about fixing an electical plug socket? A picture fell off the wall onto the plug socket and has smashed the top of the socket away so that it is no longer secure to the wall. Can you give me any advice? Many thanks, Lucy

Hi Lucy, if your not confident then you would be best getting an electrician in for the job. As it is an accessory replacement than it is unlikely you need to worry about Part P etc but I would always advise a registered electrician with NICEIC, NAPIT, ECA etc.

It is a pretty simple job if everything else is ok. A new socket should take about 20 minutes to replace and test. Most sparks will charge an hours labour. you could save some money by buying a new socket ready to fit.

Probably cost you £30-£50 depending on your local rates for the whole job.
