Garage demolition

We are looking to demolish a prefab concrete garage with an asbestos roof. Got some reasonable quotes etc. the purpose of the demolition is to open our driveway from 1 to 4/5 cars.

Two questions.

1. Do we need planning or Building control involved?
2. What are people's experiences with mortgage companies in this? Do they need to be informed? Are they funny if your potentially devaluing the property by getting rid of the garage?

As it's a prefab concrete garage, you don't need to contact planning or building control and mortgage companies are not interested in garden buildings.

You do however need to employ a suitably qualified asbestos removal company and a licenced waste carrier.
