Central Heating

Recommendation for choosing a new heating system

We recently bought our house, it is an old 2 bedrooms council house. It currently is heated using old storage heating radiators. The electricity bill is quite high for a small house like this. We are suspecting that the heating system is one of the main cause.
We are thinking of changing our heating system but are not quite sure which way to go as there are a lot of different options.
We have been told when we bought the house that a gas pipe was coming right in front of the house, so gas central heating would be an option. We have also considered installing back a wood burner downstairs. We have also considered changing our old electric storage heating radiators by modern ones, but are not sure if there would be a real impact on the electricity bill.

Any advice would be really appreciated!

i have brand new electric storage heaters not long been replaced and the difference is huge!!! But for the price of the heaters @ £500 to £600 each radiator with gas on your door step i would install gas central heating with a combi boiler. 100% i will change mine to oil one day as i have no gas. hope this helps.. prices from my company would be anywhere between £3000 to £5000 depending on viewing much more cost effective all round. and the problem with storage heaters and log burners is for chilly mornings and boiling days you cant turn them off once they have heated up!! with central heating you only have heat when you need it.
