Dining room/kitchen extension

We want to extend our dining room but will also want to extend our kitchen at a later date. They are next to each other at the back of the house so would that not be a cost effective way of doing it? The kitchen seems a more expensive and daunting job but we don't want to waste money in the long run.

Find out first if you need planning permission for the overall end product. if you do, have drawings prepared for all. you only pay once for planning. then design with foundations for both and leave kitchen walls etc. till you want to do it. If you sell the house before doing kitchen new owners will pay more with drawings for kitchen drawings ready to build so not wasting money on two sets of drawings.

Why not carry out all the ground work then just build up the dining room.
This would be the most cost effective way
