Plastering & Rendering

Plaster has come off the wall in patches back to the brick when removing wallpaper. Have polyfilled the holes, but looks uneven.

I was wondering if it is worth getting the walls skimmed to even them out or if I should bite the bullet and pull all the plaster off and start again? Also the ceiling has plenty of cracks and holes that have been filled. Same question here. The house was built in 1938 and from what I can tell it the original plaster on the walls. Not sure about the ceiling, but would guess so. Thanks in advance for your answers.

hi,always fill back to brick holes with bonding plaster before polly filla, less chance of sag or dip,or for what little it can cost, then finish by skimming the wall.regards

hi kirsten before filling any more holes ask a reputable plasterer to have a look at the walls, you might be wasting your time filling as it may have to be chopped off, as for the ceiling it sounds like it requires overboarding and skimming, hope this helps

Hi kirsten, I would suggest having a plasterer have a look at the walls and ceiling ,if you have taken back to brick whilst removing wallpaper ,it suggests to me that the walls are not in great condition, and it may be worth replastering now to save yourself further headache in the future. hope this helps. ricky
