New fence next to new pavement

The council has just built a pavement next to my property, I live on a country road, there was only a pavement on the other side of the road. I want to put up 6ft panel fences to stop the public looking In to what is the side of my property/garden. Am I permitted to do so?

Yes, as long as it is not over 6ft and on your property your more than entitled too. Calum @ CMT Contractor

No, boundary fences can only be up to 1m height within 2m of the highway, highway means pavement and grass verges along a highway, so within 2m distance of a highway you can only go up to 1m in height. You could plant some quick growing trees, these are less likely to be complained about
