Central Heating Question

Is it possible to add a wireless room thermostat to an existing gas combi boiler?

I was wondering if anyone could help please, as i haven't got much clue about boilers.
Is it possible to add a wireless room thermostat to an existing gas combi boiler (Potterton Performa 24), so that the heating could be controlled from upstairs? The boiler is in the downstairs kitchen, has a mechanical thermostat/clock originally built-in, working fine.
And if possible, how easy is this to do, and what would be the costs involved? Many thanks

Yes this is possible and should cost somewhere in the region of £100 to £175 dependant upon the type of thermostat used, and should take no more that 1 to 1.5 hours.

A good Rf unit costs around £85.00-£100.00 and yes a qualified electrician or gas safe engineer will be able to do this in about 20 mins.

Total cost should not really be more than £150.00

Yes an RF stat is a viable solution particularly if it is difficult to get access to run the wire to the new room stats position. a wired in fixed unit is more reliable, having said that they are not too expensive. and will take aqualified tradesman about 20 mins to an hour to fit depending on access to your existing wiring system.

I hope this has been helpful.
