Plumbing

Domestic Hot water low pressure.

Anonymous user 08/03/2024 - 2.30 PM

Hi have a 1500l buffer tank heated by a wood boiler. Very happy with it. It has a coil inside with the cold provided by an open vent water tank in the attic of our house and the other end going through a TMV to the hot water taps. The water in the coil is indirectly heated by the water in the buffer tank which reaches 90 C. It has no connection to the wood boiler. Works fine downstairs but pressure upstairs is very low , sometimes only a dribble. I wonder if I could replace the cold water input from the attic tank with mains cold water supply which would give me plenty of pressure. Is there a need to provide an expansion tank if I do that. The other alternative is a pump. Thanks Rob
