Sealing the gap between two extensions

I have 2 single storey extensions on the back of my house, side by side, that were built at different times, (before we bought the property), there is a gap between them, ranging from 3 - 3 1/2cm from top to bottom that is filled with fibreboard , can someone advise me on sealing the gap to stop the rain getting in?

If you have a 35mm gap between the two structures it should be bridged with expanding foam or brick cut to fit the gap, which could be rendered. Also you might need to bridge the gap where the two structures roofs meet, where is the water coming in from - ground level? through a door or window or through the brickwork. If you had some photos I could probably give you a few solutions. Cheers John
