My roofer says he cannot cut plastic in cold weather, so work can't be done

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.10 PM

I accepted a quotation from roofing firm to fit new roofline products. It has now been 8 weeks (Accepted the quote November) and he hasn't started work. I have just spoken to him on the telephone and he said that if the temperature is too cold (i.e frost on the rooftops in the mornings) the plastic components will crack as they are cut. So it will be February, when the weather warms up before he can give a start date. There is presently no frost in my area, and none is forecast. Is this a valid reason or is he just making silly excuses? Thank you Patrick for taking time to answer my question. as I suspected he thinks because I am an elderly woman, I will believe anything! Wish you were here!...;-)

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, sorry to hear of your roofline problems. He is making you hang-on 'till the weather gets less cold ... for him! I have completed this type of work in Coventry in much colder weather than we are having this winter. It's not a valid reason and he is making silly excuses. You can always telephone him to cancel and get another Coventry Contractor to do the work. Kind Regards, Leo Stenson and Sons... Property Maintenance.
