Painting & Decorating

Hi, we've just had our entire living room reboarded with plasterboard but have been told that we need to seal the board before we can paper on top. What do we use to seal??

hello, what is the reason youv'e been asked to seal it? if its for smoke/ fire damage then you need to use smoke sealer. this is available from your local builders merchants. alternitively if it is just for extra adhesivity/ bonding for the wall paper then mixing PVA glue with water (1:4 parts) in a garden sprayer and coat the boards with that. hopefully i have answered your question

I would strongly recommend you get the boarding skim finished before any decorating.......you will thank me for it if you ever want to re-decorate in the future ;)

If your going to wallpaper the plasterboard you just need to size it first. This is just a very week wallpaper adhesive mixture which you can apply evenly with a roller.Alternatively you can seal the board with a weak p.v.a and water mix.I am assuming that all the plasterboard joints have been taped & jointed,if not you need to do this first.Hope this helps Mark.
