water underfloor heating installation
Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 2.38 PM
Hi, I want to get an water underfloor heating installed on ground flloor only about 35m2 into my 3 bed house. There is already a combi boiler worchester but I would like to have an extra tank as a hot water storage, some cylinder. All I know is that will need an unvented cylinder but dont know if direct or indirect. The water will get warm from the cylinder not from the boiler and will be circulated across all underfloor heating and it will be used for heating only. Hot water from the boiler will be also used for bath, shower, etc as it is now.
Another question is which type of installation is needed or required. I will also look for a plumbers or companies with water UFH installation experience to install it for me.
Many thanks

You will need a Direct Cylinder and have the water heated within the Unvented Cylinder by Immersion with a Pump Fitted to push water round UFH and with Hot Return required on the Unvented Cylinder (Special Order) to allow circulation of Hot Water from UFH back to Boiler.

hi so your going run your ufh from a hot water storage tank which will need to be heated by an electric immersion heater.I would imagine this would be quite expensive to run as the circulating water would cool quite quickly.I would think electric ufh would be a cheaper option.but if not its definately a direct cylinder you need but any direct cylinder will do you would just need to blank the hot water take off (the pipe at the top of the cylinder). Hope this helps regards john
