How is a upvc window finished around the frame?

If wooden box sash windows are to be removed I understand they will leave a huge gap as the UPVC ones are smaller!
What is the finishing they use on the inside of the UPVC frame to prevent the window from any damp, movement, or air affecting the window in the future?
I understand there needs to be a small area left for moment/expansion of UPVC however concerned that if not finished off properly will cause a draught?
Any feedback & advice appreciated.
Kind regards

Hi there.. The normal gap around a window should be 5 mil each side of window.. Sponge .. Damp proof is normally used to fill any gaps along with expanding foam. Then sealed on the outside. The inside should be plastered or even upvc trims on the inside and sealed.
