Kitchen extension built over sewer drain cover

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 2.50 PM

I had a kitchen extension built around 25-30 years ago, and the extension was built over the original sewer which means that the sewer drain cover is inside the kitchen, which is covered by laminate flooring. We was told at the time the extension was built it would have cost a lot of expense to move the drain, and it was perfectly legal to have it inside. We have never had any problems, but with the recent winter flooding what could be the implications if the sewer blocked? Is it a costly job to re-site the drain outside? Regards Richard

You are getting wound up for nothing, if you have had no trouble in the last 30 years and with the recent heavy storms causing no problems, relax, the drain is more than likely a foul drain which storm water would have no effect on Peter
