I had a carpet fitted a couple of days ago, by a small local carpet shop down the road from me. Although I know nothing about carpet fitting, I was quite taken aback when, after 10 minutes of being in the bedroom (15 at a very big push), the carpet fitter said it was all done. Now, I know it's a relatively small room (14ftx7ft), but really? Just 15 minutes at most to fit a carpet? No grippers were used, it was just glued down. After talking to my dad, he asked if some knee thing was used, or did he have knee pads on or something (can't remember the correct term). But nope, there was none of that, just had jeans on! I heard no banging, no noise, just the sound of the adhesive being sprayed but that was it. So then I notice in a couple of places, that there are bubbles, air pockets, waves (?). Basically there are sections that are not flat against the floor and you can push down on them, then they spring back up. I stood in the doorway this morning and looked over the other side of the room and could see the raised area ( the worst one anyway, there are others). I tried smoothing it out by running my hands along it to the edges, but since that's all glued, it makes no difference. The more I look, the more wound up I become! If I run my foot over these areas, it creates waves in the carpet. I guess all I want to know is, would this be classed as a bodge job? Do I have to get him back to sort these bubbles out? Or is it likely he will end up making it 10 times worse? :/ Thanks Donna x
