Storage heater covers
I'm trying to get some covers for two storage heaters, have found lots for radiators but no-one seems to do them for storage heaters, except one company but prices started in excess of £600 per cover. Any advice?
The main reason they aren't as widely available is most storage heater manufacturers would normally advise against having anything covering it and within a certain distance meaning to be within their guidelines the covers would need to be huge. This company sell them with hinged lids to open when in use, http://www.salixonline.co.uk/rads/storage.html still fairly expensive but cheaper than the 600 you've seen so far, I'd recommend getting a local carpenter or joiner to make you one up, will probably be the most cost effective method and can try and get them the right size to keep within guidelines of your radiators.
Remember though that most manufacturers would advise against covers for a very good reason, they will affect output incredibly and can become a hazard in themselves as well as possibly causing damage to the radiator itself.
