Chimneys & Fireplaces Question
Hetas certificate / napit for fuel burner
We had a small multi-fuel burner installed a few weeks ago. We were assured by the company in question that they were able to self-certify, etc. It has been 2 weeks since the work and I am now really concerned as I have emailed regarding the certificate and have had no response to calls. The company are still trading with good review and so I'm left wondering if they don't respond what can I do? I have contacted the Council and to get them to certify will cost around £800, I guess that's my only option.
I feel really stupid that I have let this happen, I'm not normally taken advantage of but I feel like perhaps this time I have been swindled. Is there a way of getting a HETAS engineer to certify the works or is council compliance the only choice I have now?
Thank you and please try not to be too brutal with your responses...
First thing is to contact HETAS either by phone 0845 634 5626 or email www.hetas.co.uk
Tell them the company name and they can see if the company is registered or not.
The company who installed your appliance should have given you a certificate on the day of completion. One copy for you, one for Hetas and one to be kept by installer.
A hetas installer cannot certify other peoples work.
If the company is not Hetas stop using your stove.
Hope this helps

All Hetas engineers should issue a Hetas certificate of compliance on the day of installation, Hetas have however started to allow installers to register on line so the fitter may be doing this, however he should still leave a commissioning sheet with the customer.
Hope this helps
