why plastering? it's a messy job and you are always covered in dust! and it's hard work, it's got to be the worst trade out there. if i knew then what i know now i would go into plumbing or electrics but whichever trade you choose you would be best going to college first - otherwise you will end up labouring. best of luck for whatever path you take graham

Other is too many plasterers out there. Not only will u need an N.v.q, u will need 4/5 years to get good . 50% of plastering vacancy are 4 a.g.y work. That may say it's 7 weeks work and ends up a week etc. The rules on site are to stocked. Everybody is against you most of the time. You coupled end up working 4 so many people , in out of work , the tax stuff will be a nightmare . You will have trouble to get ur own house , because the work is unstable . You will have many people waste ur time . You will be spending money on travel/petrol time looking at jobs u may not get my builder-fees-liability-insurance. You can do it, maybe start doing small jobs 4 friends or in ur own house one day . Do something else more stable. Just do plastering sometimes, do not rely on this all the time. If put in cheap prices to get jobs no go a heads. If u work in people houses u have to be very clean, this takes years, most people don't realize what's involved. It can take 1/2 a day sheeting someone's house out before u start. Many sites won't take u because ur age and insurance - the health and safety has gone crazy. I was on site at 16 things have changed. I was keen like u to make plastering did look interesting . But life is hard now u me have to re-think . Maybe get some other thing under ur belt 1st the give it some thought if u really want, to Do it after this so u got something to full back on. I'm a very good plasterer tried it all almost its a dead end , can be more than likely it is 4 most . However I respect u 4 asking this u will do well thing ahead and are careful . Make sure u get an nvq or two in something or two different types of work, then if you Java had enough here one day u can immigrate, to a better country . I'd like to go to Australia but can't save 5000 at least lack of work if u were a plasterer or most things out there is a good wage and life. I wish u wish u all the best .
