Flat roof still leaking after new felt and up stands installed
Our flat roof has been leaking for some time and our roofer has drawn a blank.
He has replaced the felt and installed new up stands and resealed. He now thinks the windows are leaking?
There is no water on the inside of these windows although he says the sealant does release water when pressure is applied on the outside. He has installed sills under the windows to direct the water away from the edge of the roof but this hasn't worked.
I asked another roofer to check the roof and he says it hasn't been sealed properly and it needs a new mastic sealant applied and the old one cleaned off costing £175
I've mentioned this to the original roofer but he says it's the windows and is offering to seal round them again.
I really don't know what to do as we need this fixed ASAP as we're sitting with buckets around the kids Xmas presents!!!
He should not be scratching his head, if it's leaking then he should be on site sorting it out. It is not rocket science, it's a flat roof. Maybe you should consider a fibreglass roof with a 25 year guarantee next time. Have you no guarantee with the roof?

A flat roof is fine and should not leak ! however water can travel great distances its very hard to judge with out looking. but if you have buckets I would be looking to get another roofer. good luck
