Water damaged ceiling from washing machine opened when full

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.03 PM

The washing machine in a first floor flat was opened when full and the water drained through quickly (within 10 minutes) to the ground floor flat. There was no visible damage at the time and it was believed that all the water had dropped down. A month later and there are now damp patches appearing on the ceiling in the ground floor flat. Does this mean that there is still water there which needs to be drained or could this be the ceiling drying out?

It sounds like the water has started to dry out if you think it has dried I suggest giving it a coat of emulsion if the stain re appears then it most likely means water is being held in your joists which will need your ceiling to be replaced once the moisture has completely gone
