Baxi combi boiler - dirty water problem

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 2.59 PM

Hello there, I bought a new Baxi Combi boiler in December 2011, but the pump had to be changed a year later, apparently because of dirty water. The installer did not mention the need for a system cleanse at the time of installation, so the cleanse was not carried out until a few weeks after the installation, at my request. Clearly, this wasn’t too successful. The boiler pump was replaced under guarantee, but I was told that this could happen again, and the guarantee would not cover the work because of the dirty water in the system. So, what is my best strategy? My radiators are about 18 years old. Should I replace the radiators? Should I have another system cleanse? (The valves are the wrong size for a system flush.) Should I buy a magnaclean filter? Thanks a lot. Billy Nicol Glasgow

Your radiators have reached their serviceable life, replace them also the valves too. As for a clean heating system, after replacing the radiators I would carry out a chemical clean and fit a Fernox TF1 magnetic filter (see link below) leave the chemical sludge remover in your system for approx. 1 month, drain down, clean out magnetic filter and re-fill your system, not forgetting to add inhibitor. Recommended Cleaner: Fernox F3 Recommended Inhibitor: Fernox F1 http://www.fernox.com/files/Fernox/Content/PDF/English/Total%20Filter%20TF1.pdf
