Loft Conversions Question

What is the first stage in starting a loft conversion?

Due to not having 20k, I am attempting to employ different tradesmen in stages to convert my loft into a bedroom space. We have had it looked at by a loft specialist and agrees the size etc is feasible, so what is the first stage in the build, is it flooring, electrics or windows installing etc?

I have the windows and flashing bought and also have the stairs in process of being made...any help greatly received, thank you in advance, Rachael

You are very brave!
Your first stage should be DRAWINGS, these will also involve a structural engineer. Building Control application must be lodged, you may even need planning (subject to circumstances).
Your first trade would be a good chippy, then roofer, then windows, then electrics/plumbing, then plasterer, then electrics/plumber, then chippy, then decorator. You may even need scaffold at the start.

I would advise you have an architectural type person to oversee works and maybe act as your site manager but that will increase costs but not as much as you may lose if trades mess you around or you mis-manage them.
