Plumbing Question

No water coming out of hot water shower mixer tap

Hi. We fitted a basic shower mixer tap about a year ago and it has worked fine up until now. Now it seems as soon as the water gets hot, it stops coming out of both the hot tap and the shower head. The base of the tap where the hot pipe comes in seems to get very hot, so the hot water is getting to the tap. The cold water elements are fine as are all the other taps in the house. Any advice on how to fix this would be appreciated.

Try changing the shower hose.

This points to a failed cartridge in the shower-valve though, if you want, you can undo the actual mixer from the water pipes (turn off water supply first) and check no debris blocking the mesh filter/washer on the inlet. Once you've ruled that out then check how long the product is guaranteed for. If it's out of warranty, then often as cheap to replace rather than repair.
