Plastering Question

Small dark spots appearing on artex ceiling

Hi, I have an artex ceiling in my living room and over the past 3 days I have noticed 3 dark 10p sized marks in random places. They look damp but are not to the touch. I have put the heating on for 30 mins in case it is a leak but they don't appear to get any bigger or damp and the pressure gauge on the boiler hasn't dropped there is also no cold water pipes in that area. What could these be? I just don't want to start ripping up our new carpets and floor upstairs looking for leaks which aren't there. Hope you can help. Ian

This could be as simple as the rust on the screws or nails bleeding through. We had a lot of this during the 90's before the building specification required that all plasterboard fixings should be screws and was rust resistant (phosphate).
The problem can be solved with a stain block to the ceiling and re-painting the area.
I hope this helps
