What is the best white paint to use on well prepped new wood

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.01 PM

Hi, can anyone recommend the best paint to use on well prepped new internal wood ie doors, skirting etc. I bought Dulux quick dry satinwood pure brilliant white. This stuff is absolutely useless, its coverage is zero and it's not white but a cream runny solution. Please help.

Hi Annie Sorry to hear you're uinhappy with your Dulux product. I must say it's not the first time or last, keep hearing about Dulux products or water based paints esp as a finished coat. You say they are new doors so presume they have been primed. If not I would suggest after knotting any knots and filling the wood, you're ready to apply coat of primer!!!!!!!!! Not sure if you're short on time or you have children but use water based acrylic (if short on time) followed by 2 coats of satinwood oil based. If wood is already painted, satinwood does not require undercoat. I usually apply 2 or 3 coats, but use oil based and if I were you, avoid Dulux. Not only is it dear, it's not a true white compared to other manufacturer's paint!!!!!! It has a grey tint. Hope this helps and good luck

Dulux paints are the best you can buy in the uk but make sure its dulux trade paint and not the cheaper dulux retail paints they sell in diy stores.
