Hiya, I had a new kitchen fitted which included adding a new socket for cooker hob, changing some faces and just moving some sockets along the wall a few cms. The company that did it are NICEIC covered and have issued me with a Electrical Installation Condition Report, does this certificate cover me on part P? Nothing on the net is very clear Cheers for any help

Hi Your certificate should have on there everything that's been changed / altered and should have been registered because of the room where the work has been undertaken. The certificate is your proof that the work has been carried out by a competent person if there's ever a problem and covers you. If unsure, contact the NICEIC and quote the reference number and they will put you on the right track. Regards Jeh

An electrical installation certificate is issued for installing. Or a minor works certificate if work is only on extending existing circuits or adding to them. An electrical installation condition report is what was termed periodic inspections issued to verify electrical system is satisfactory or not.

An Electrical Installation Condition Report is not the correct certificate for new works! You should have had either a Minor Electrical Works Certificate (1 page document) or a full 3 page Electrical Installation Certificate. The part P notification is a separate 1 page document that is normally sent directly to you via post. Ask your electrician for the Building Control Website reference number that the job was notified under and if required request a duplicate Part P notification certificate.
